According to the geographical data, Kangchenjunga, along with its five great massifs, constitutes third highest peaks in the world. These five massifs are Himalaya in Sikkim region began witnessing heavy traffic in 1988. Initially, trekking in the area was restricted to preserve its ecosystem. Over time, explorers uncovered remote valleys and hidden treasures such as lakes, tribal villages, and forests rich with a variety of flora and fauna.
The exhilarating trek to Kanchenjunga base camp commences from Yuksom; it then continues towards Bakhim, Dzongri, Laxmi Pokhari, Bikhbari Chaurikhang and Rathong Glacier before finally concluding at Bakkhim. During the 11-day expedition, trekkers will marvel at the breathtaking view of Mt Khangchendzonga (8,586 m), Mt Kokthang (6,148 m), Mt Pandim (6,691 m), and several other peaks in the region.

Mid-March to June end & Mid-September to Mid-November
Hikers should refrain from embarking on treks during the monsoon as the paths become slippery and roads are blocked due to heavy rainfall. During the winter season, trekking is often not feasible due to heavy snowfall, making trails inaccessible and the weather extremely inclement.
Summer (May – June) : Yuksom Day: 15°C to 25°C / Night: 8°C to 15°C
Dzongri : Day: 7°C to 15°C / Night: 3°C to (-2) °C.
Monsoon (July to Mid-September) : Hikers should refrain from embarking on treks during the monsoon as the paths become slippery and roads are blocked due to heavy rainfall. Autumn (Mid September to end October) : Yuksom Day: 13°C to 20°C / Night: 2°C to 7°C
Dzongri : Day: 2°C to 7°C / Night: 3°C to (-4) °C.
Given that trekking involves traversing long distances, typically by hiking up and down hills and mountains, it is essential for trekkers to be in good physical condition. Acclimatizing to higher altitudes is crucial as the air becomes thinner and oxygen levels decrease beyond Dzongri.
Take an early morning flight to Bagdogra airport. Upon reaching Gangtok, meet our guide who will assist in transporting you to Gangtok and completing the hotel check-in process. Enjoy dinner and stay overnight at the hotel in Gangtok.
After breakfast, you will drive to Yuksam for overnight stay and dinner.
Begin your day with a nutritious breakfast and proceed towards your designated location for the day, Tsokha. The trek will commence at a nearby bazaar; after that, adventurers will need to traverse four bridges and ascend steeply towards the northeast in order to reach Bakkhim. The path will persist for an additional three km as it meanders through a beautiful forest of magnolia and rhododendron until reaching Tsokha.Dinner and overnight stay in Tshoka.
At the break of dawn, you will be accompanied to the alp of Phedang (365 m). Following the crossing of the alp of Phedang, you will commence your hike towards Dzongri, where you will set up camp for an overnight stay and enjoy dinner.
Wake up early and get ready, today you will need to hike uphill to the ridge to witness the sunrise. The sight of the sun rising above the mountainous horizon is stunning. You will also be able to admire the incredible view of neighboring peaks such as Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), Kabru (7,000 m), Pandim (6,691 m), Rathong glacier, and others. After covering some distance, you will trek through rhododendron bushes and pasture land until you reach Chamaray. From there, a steep uphill climb may lead you to Laxmi Pokhari, where you will set up camp for the day and have dinner.
On this particular day, the path veers towards the left in order to reach Zamlingang. Enjoy dinner and spend the night at the campsite in Zamlingang.
Today is the day you’ve been eagerly anticipating – the trek to the Kanchenjunga Base Camp. Get ready early in the morning to embark on this trek, where you’ll witness the breathtaking views of Frey’s peak (583 meters), Koktang (6,148 meters), Kabur, and Rathong glacier. After spending some time there, return to Bikhbari for camping and overnight stay.
Take this day to relax and conserve your energy for the following day. Embrace the delightful surroundings that are plentiful. If you desire, you can venture out and discover the nearby area. Rest for the evening in tents.
In the early hours of the morning, begin your descent trek to Bakkhim for dinner and an overnight stay.
Following breakfast, hike downhill to Yuksom. Once there, you will have a delicious lunch at the Dubdi monastery. You will spend the night at the Yuksom camp and have dinner there as well.
Rise and shine in the morning, pack your bags and prepare to head to Bagdogra airport to catch a flight back to your respective cities. With the transfer to the airport, this amazing Kanchenjunga BC Trek will draw to a close.
