Not many realize that West Bengal has much more to offer than its vibrant culture, delicious food, and stunning temples. This eastern Indian state is home to a wealth of exotic wildlife. Our wildlife expedition to Jaldapara and Gorumara national parks spans 5 nights and 6 days, providing an excellent opportunity to observe numerous animal and bird species including one-horned rhinos, elephants, gaur, spotted deer, Pallas’s fishing eagle, jungle fowl, peafowl and partridges. The tour’s meticulously planned itinerary allows you to admire the best of West Bengal’s wildlife up close.
Upon reaching NJP (New Jalpaiguri) railway station / Bagdogra airport, greet our representative and proceed to Gorumara National Park. Established in 1992 as a national park, Gorumara is located in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. Upon arrival, check-in at the wildlife resort. Evening free for leisure activities. Overnight stay at the resort.
Today we will explore Gorumara National Park through a 02-hour Jeep safari. After morning tea, it’s time to enter the park for the first time. Gorumara National Park is primarily known for the one-horned Rhino; apart from Rhinos, numerous spotted Deers, Bisons, Elephants and Gaurs can be spotted during your wildlife jeep safari.
Later return to the resort for breakfast. After lunch, we will re-enter the national park for more wildlife viewing; this time spent quietly at Jatraprasad Watch Tower which offers an excellent view of the forest and its wildlife from very close proximity.
Return to the resort for an overnight stay
Today we will enjoy another safari in Gorumara’s forests to get up close with wildlife animals.After an hour-long safari we will return to freshen up and have breakfast.
Enjoy leisure activities until lunchtime or visit Rhino observation tower located near the forest bungalow -the salt reservoir below provides an ideal place for spotting wildlife as they frequently visit it for water.
After lunch enjoy nature trekking within national park followed by more wildlife viewing back at the resort.
After breakfast we will depart for our second wildlife destination, Jaldapara National Park. On the way to Jaldapara, we will visit the South Khayerbari animal rescue center. The animal rescue center at Khayerbari is home to Tigers and Leopards which were brought from various circus troupes and zoos. Visitors can enjoy a leopard safari in this center.
We will then continue driving to Jaldapara National Park, located in the foothills of the Himalayas. It was established as a wildlife sanctuary in 1991 for protecting the one-horned rhino. The park is flanked by river Torsa and river Malangi. The sanctuary is mostly covered with tall grasses and consists of rich vegetation and diverse wildlife. Upon arrival at Jaldapara, check into the wildlife resort. After freshening up, we will explore nearby tribal villages within the vicinity of the national park and also enjoy a nature trail.
Later return to the resort for overnight stay.
This morning we will wake up early and head for a jungle safari in Jaldapara National Park to view wildlife. Later return to the resort for breakfast.
After breakfast, take pleasure in the ambiance and natural surroundings around the wildlife resort.
After lunch, we will revisitthe national park; this time enjoying a jeep safari through its vast grassland beauty.The national park is renowned for its one-horned rhinoceros population after Kaziranga National Park – it holds India’s highest rhino population.Other fauna found there are tigers, elephants, deer,sambar,wild pigs,and bison.Birdwatchers can also spot numerous avifauna species such as Bengal Florican ,crested eagle,Pallas’s fishing eagle,jungle fowl ,peafowl , partridges,and lesser pied hornbill etc., making it a paradise for bird watchers.Later return to there sort for an overnight stay.
In then morning after breakfast you leave back towards Bagdogra/NJP connecting onward destination.
